Does Your Disappointments Make You Bitter or Better?
No one escapes disappointments. Rich and poor alike experience it. There is no use running away from it. It is a part of life. The only thing left for us to do is deal with it.
Like a lot of things in life, “how you handle” your disappoinment is more critical than the actual disappointment itself. Your diappointment can make you bitter or better, it is really up to you. It is your choice.
Our disappointments can also be used to our advantage. We can look at it as a tool, like a hammer. You can use the hammer to beat your head. You can also use it to build a house. It is in your hands.
So how can disappointments be used to our advantage?
It Keep Us Real
Disappointments remind us the fact we always forget, we are not perfect! We are a work in progress. Our disappointments makes us realize that there are a lot in us that needs improvement. There is always a danger when we are riding the winds of success to think we are perfect. And perfect people do not need to improve. To be disillusioned that we are perfect is to stop growing. And anthing that stops growing eventually dies.
It Makes Us Stronger
Surviving our disappointments makes us more wiser and tougher. It also maks us more realistic. It makes us realize both our strength and weakness. What “to do” and most of the time what “not to do”. Disappointments help us make more wiser and better decisions in the future.
Virtues only become virtues when they are put to the test. You can not exercise courage when you are being beaten by a pillow. But you need courage when life hits you in the gut. No one perseverses when everything is peachy. Perserverance comes when all hell breaks lose and you still choose to continue to move forward.
Disappointments can be like a furnace that forges us to be tough as steel.
The best soldiers are those who have the scars to prove it.
Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. - James 1:4
